Varekai by Cirque du Soleil - 5/10/14 - WOW! Another amazing cast, crew and show! Cirque du Soleil is always a delight, and Varekai is amazingly rich in imagery. I decided to focus on the Forest that is home to all the creatures that Icarus encounters in his fall to the forest floor. No supports were used in any of the trees, leaves, or characters - 100% free-standing sugar! Only one layer of wedding cake style supports were inside the cake itself. The cake was alternating layers of vanilla and chocolate, filled with soft caramel and Swiss Buttercream. The cast-crew LOVED it, and were so excited to see it come backstage.
