String Cheese Incident, 20th New Years Eve - 12/31/13 - Happy New Year! This cake was made to celebrate 20 years of amazing New Years Eve performances here in Colorado by the band, The String Cheese Incident. SCI is one of my favorite bands to listen to while I "cake", and this cake was a big, sweet Thank You. The Snow Hill, "20" and sleigh were full of Vanilla Pound cake and Swiss Buttercream with a coffee soaking syrup. The Dragonfly is gumpaste on a wire framework which was also covered with gumpaste wherever it touched cake. She has cast-gelatin wings, which were hand-painted copper. The instruments and rails are solid gumpaste which were also hand-painted (except for one small guitar-neck
repair). It was such an honor to spend time with these wonderful gents and to cut some cake with them!
Work In Progress
This was a crazy mixup of skillsets! Everything was food safe and well covered, but I did use a lot of cross-crafting with power tools and hardware. The base of the sleigh was the bottom of a milk carton. It was filled with Cake, and the Snowy Hill under the sleigh was Cake, and the "20" was also solid Cake!!! Vanilla Poundcake with Vanilla Coconut Buttercream. all of the Instruments are solid gumpaste, with the exception of a toothpick in the guitar neck. I hand painted them with a paint of my own mixing. This Cake was a Heck of a lot of FUN!!!

Or, just Buy Me A Coffee
This one project took me over 40 hours to bring to you here, today, first conceived, designed and sculpted in reality, then filmed, edited, finally uploaded, served up as a Slice. If you have read this far, it is my hope that you have enjoyed your time here. I know it seems everyone has their hands out for money, but perhaps consider it Fair Return, for Value Given in advance. Know every dollar builds the rainbow energy and gratitude I harness in Creating Art <3 |
