SAGRADA FAMILA CAKE - 10/7/17
This Cake was the Biggest, most involved Cake I have ever done! This Cake Art Dedicated to the fiery Love of this beautiful couple, "Two Hearts One Fire". Under Gaudi's windows in the Sagrada Familia, Barcelona, they felt more On Fire than ever, and they asked me to bring them here. They and their 600+ guests reveled in this cake. It was a truly Sweet Success!!
This cake stood over four feet tall. There were over 200 edible stain glass windows, lit from within by a food safe custom lightbox. We cut into it and served it while it was still lit up. The Bride was absolutely stunned and delighted by the result, and it was a magical, unforgettable experience for all involved. This is Why I Sculpt Cake, The Unforgettable.
Cake may be Sweet, but the Memory should last Forever.
This effort was three months of sculpting, making molds, drying, dusting, and finally baking. If you are interested please follow the links below for Work In Progress
This Cake Art would not have been possible without the efforts of many to whom I am exceedingly grateful.
Id like to thank the Bride and Groom for the Opportunity to Create this Comission for them! <3 Big Hugs and Thanks @Caljava provided all the Fondx Fondant, as well as thier porcelain-like #Fondx Gumpaste, without which those delicate, solid sugar panels would not have been possible. Those glittering edible windows are cast from crystal-clear CakePlay Inc#Isomalt, generously provided by the lovely Peggy Tucker who helped me get over my fear of isomalt!! All of these lovely Photos we see now, as well as more of the three-hour setup, are the work of the incredibly talented Annette Slade Photography. And, from the bottom of my heart I Thank my wonderful assistants Bryan Williams ( Colorado ICES ), Rebecca Hauger ( Becca's Edible Artt) and Lisa Herrera ( A Cake Come True ) whose sweet skills were absolutely indispensable, throughout the Creation of this Art.
Because of the sheer scope of this project, I have divided the pictures into FOUR PAGES. The FINISHED CAKE is below
