Mother Universe 50th Birthday - 8/9/14 - Happy Birthday Kristine Marie! You are one amazing lady who has traveled the globe finding folks to help, along with countless foster doggies. It was my sincere pleasure to make this in honor of your 50th Birthday Celebration. Mother cradles a RKT globe covered in gumpaste/modeling chocolate mix. Her face and arms are modeling chocolate over a bust and body of Almond Pound Cake and Buttercream. Painted fondant makes her dress, and the Colorado wildflowers around her head are gumpaste. The stamps on her dress show Kristine's world travels, and the doggy footprints her foster dogs. Happy Birthday, here's to many many more! We delivered this cake up a mountain road to the top of the world near the Continental Divide. Yes I 4wd, with Cake. I am told She and held benevolent space over all in attendance until time dictated

This cake is more than just a cake. At the time, when I made it, I didn't really realize who I was making it for. I've taken cakes to Rock Stars, but really, Kristine is a genuine hero. In the years that have passed since I made this confection for her, I've been so very lucky to witness the depths of service she and her fellow Doctors Without Borders give to ease the difficulties of those who really, REALLY need it. Kristine is better than a Doctor, shes a professional midwife. She provides care to mothers and children that would not otherwise get it. She not only saves lives she makes lives more livable. She has amazed me with true stories of hardship, travels, and of fierce battles for tiny lives both won and lost. I feel so glad to be able to bring HER. a smile
after all she does and is doing. Stay Sweet!!!
