"Frog Prince": Rackham Illustration Cake -8/18/13 - Here it is! Awhile back I was invited by CakeCentral.com to participate in a Theme for their Vol4 Issue 10 edition addressing the work of artist Arthur Rackham (9/19/1867-9/6/1939). I was asked to use his illustrations of "The Frog Prince" to inspire a cake design. They swore me to secrecy. There were two Rackham illustrations for this story, and I chose the one of the Princess with the Frog at the well, in the deep dark woods. This cake was started as one lump of ivory fondant tinted various shades and then painted with a uniform sepia wash to match the tones of the original illustration. Incredibly Talented Food Photographer Annette Slade of Slade Photo shot the pictures to insure the best picture possible. The cake made the publication on pg 50-51! Check out the new issue of Cake Central Magazine to see the spread, and Thanks Folks at Cake Central!
