Christmas Tree Cake - 12/20/11 - HAPPY HOLIDAYS!! This Tree was a challenge! Each branch is dry gumpaste, as are ornaments and candy canes. Each colored ornament is individually hand-painted with gold, silver or copper luster dust. Gifts are krispy treat covered in gumpaste wrapping. More pics than usual because this cake was 360* all the way around lovely. Golden red-green sprinkle cake within, coconut 'snow' on the base and inside in the filling- YUM!
**This cake was made in 2011, but this year (2012) Cooking.com decided they would like to feature it in their online gallery, "Food Christmas Trees" ( http://www.cooking.com/recipes-and-more/food-christmas-trees-photo-gallery.aspx#axzz2DYp0xHQe ). The Tree is featured as the second image in the slideshow! It was incredibly popular this year! Good Morning America also picked it up, and it is appearing online in their Slideshow "10 Towering Christmas Trees", as slide #1. Thanks GMA! You guys rock! Maybe someday we'll meet in person.
