Boulder Panthers Purple Basketball - 3/22/11 - So the Team went to State that year (2011), and I was asked to make them something special for their banquet! Boulder panther colors are purple and gold, so this cake had a purple-golden cake swirl inside as a surprise. This deceptively simple-looking cake was a MAJOR effort to keep clean-looking - I never use molds, so that perfect round is hand-carved -  on top of a sloping/round base made from decreasing circles of cardboard - see the extra pics above where you can see the demolished cake sitting on the base. Another design challenge conquered - a lot of math in this one!
