Blues Traveler v 4.0 - 7/4/2021 -
wow. WE MADE IT. I don't know about you al, but it has been a crazy year. It gives me great pleasure to be able to share this with you, my 4th Cake for Blues Traveler on the 4th at Red Rock Amphitheater.
I'm reminded how sweet Life is, and how wonderful it is to have cake, with friends, and celebrate the Sweetness and Salt.
Black Cat Jam rules over the rowdy crowdy eager to rock it out under the Creation Rock - or is it a Hohner? Ask the show Poster, which gave the inspiration for this piece. I will testify I have heard the wind whistle through those caves in voices an rythyms, so a harmonica is not so far fetched. I love the comparison and naturally needed to Cake It.
Black Cat Jam is once again a sugarpaste sculpture over a internal structure (Caljava Gumpaste). He stands atop a Creation Rock Hohner that is sculpted from solid Vanilla Almond Poundcake with Azteca Chocolate buttercream (Cayenne, Cardamon, dark cocoa). Magic Chocolate modeling chocolate was essential in the crisp details necessary to this design, oh and yum, chocolate with cake! Magic Colours are my go to for all my tints, dusts, and jewel-like colors you see here. Caljava Fondx covers all so very very sweetly. The Fireworks were a bit of an experiment inspired by Simi Isomalt. I love Isomalt, it reminds me of glass, and I hope to work more with it.
All in all this is one monster of a design - delivery of such an animal is always interesting.
